NuvaRing birth control lawsuits filed against Merck & Co. are fast approaching the 750 mark with trials beginning in Spring 2012. Injured victims are claiming that the combined hormonal birth control vaginal ring caused them injuries such as strokes, heart attacks, deep vein thrombosis and many others.
NuvaRing Injuries Extensive
NuvaRing injuries, due to the etonogestrel and ethenyl estradiol combination contraceptive, have been reported in the form of blood clots, pulmonary embolisms, deep vein thromboses, strokes and heart attacks - many of which have resulted in death. NuvaRing injury lawsuits allege that the company not only over-marketed the product, but also failed to warn consumers about the increased risk of severe injury or death.
Many consumers say that, had they known about NuvaRing side effects, they would have never used the medical device. So, did the manufacturer simply not know about the side effects - or did it know about them, but not provide the proper warning? While only time will tell, product liability lawyers say that even more lawsuits are expected to be filed over NuvaRing injuries - which could spell trouble for Merck.
NuvaRing Lawsuits Increasing
Approximately 730 NuvaRing lawsuits have been filed against Merck & Company according to the company's annual report. Over 600 of those lawsuits are currently consolidated in multi-district litigation (MDL) in the Eastern District of Missouri; an additional 110 NuvaRing lawsuits have been consolidated in New Jersey Superior Court and others have been filed in state courts throughout the nation. The number of NuvaRing lawsuits filed against Merck has steadily increased over the past few years. Trials are set to begin in the Spring of 2012 and personal injury lawyers representing injured victims are seeking numerous forms of compensation for their clients.
Those injured may be entitled to NuvaRing compensation in the form of past and future medical bills, past and future lost wages, emotional distress, loss of consortium and more. If you've been injured, you may be entitled to compensation. To find out more, contact an experienced NuvaRing injury lawyer to discuss your situation, determine your options and decide whether filing a NuvaRing lawsuit makes sense for you.
It's important to understand that NuvaRing attorneys work on a contingency fee basis, so you don't pay anything upfront - including costs related to obtaining medical records, lawsuit filing fees, hiring experts or whatever else is necessary. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain just by finding out more. Don't let big pharmaceutical companies get away with selling allegedly defective products. Fight back and get the compensation for which you're entitled.
