Lawsuits are being filed in increasing numbers against Bayer for Yaz and Yasmin. One complaint, very recently filed by a woman in New York, claims that after taking a combination of Yaz and Yasmin for just two months, she is at greater risk of the serious side effects that have been clinically attributed to Yaz and Yasmin: cardiac arrhythmia, stroke, blood clots, and gall bladder disease. The complaint further alleges that Bayer never tested the effects of the drugs in clinical trials before releasing Yaz and Yasmin.
In October 2009, a federal court panel decided that all 32 federal lawsuits filed against Bayer over the use of Yaz and Yasmin should be consolidated in a single action in the Southern District of Illinois.
