Reglan is commonly used as a prescription drug alternative for treating heartburn in those suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease. Reglan can also be prescribed to those with diabetes, to help treat slow gastric emptying (or diabetic gastroparesis). Reglan works to treat these issues by increasing muscle contractions in the upper digestive tract, thus facilitating the stomach’s emptying into the intestines.

Unfortunately, Metoclopramide, the generic drug form of Reglan, has been strongly linked to serious nervous system disorders such as tardive dyskinesia, characterized by involuntary repetitive movements, particularly of the mouth or eyes.

In February 2009, the FDA mandated that a blackbox warning be placed on all forms of Metoclopramide advising of the long-term and high-dose risks of taking the drug and developing tardive dyskinesia. (See the FDA announcement.)

If you or a loved one has suffered harm as a result of the use of Reglan, seek legal help immediately to protect your rights. There is no fee and no other obligation, however, if you delay, you may lose your right to seek compensation for injuries caused by Reglan due to state-imposed time limits for filing a lawsuit.

Reglan is manufactured and distributed by a number of companies both in its name brand and generic form, Metoclopramide. An experienced Reglan attorney will be able to help you determine who is at fault for the harm suffered by you or a loved one, as well as with getting your lawsuit filed in time before the statute of limitations in your state runs out.
