Parkinson’s disease occurs when the brain cells that produce dopamine die. Dopamine is a chemical essential for carrying messages related to movement, and as Parkinson’s disease patients experience dopamine deficiencies, their symptoms progress from tremors to paralysis. The Mirapex claim is that it reduces tremors and movement difficulties by attaching to the dopamine receptors in the area of the brain linked to pleasure and reward seeking.
