The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has informed healthcare professionals that it has updated the pregnancy section of drug labels for antipsychotic drugs. The section now contains more and consistent information about the potential risk for abnormal muscle movements known as EPS, or extrapyramidal signs. It also warns about withdrawal symptoms in newborn children whose mothers are treated with certain drugs to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders during their third trimester.
