Skechers Shape Ups Users Allege Hip Fractures & Ankle Injuries

Skechers Shape Ups are advertised as a revolutionary product that's supposed to be good for your body and an easier way to get in shape. However, some users report that these distinctive round bottom sneakers have caused medical problems including hip fractures, achilles tendon injuries and ankle injuries.

Skechers Injuries: Hip Fractures, Achilles Tendon & Ankle Injuries

According to a growing number of consumers who have complained about injuries after using Skechers Shape Ups, the sneaker has an opposite effect than the one marketed. In fact, product liability lawyers say that a growing number of Skechers lawsuits are expected to be filed after one Ohio woman filed suit against the shoe manufacturing giant alleging that this sneaker maker's advertising simply wasn't true.

Get In Shape Without Setting Foot In The Gym?

That's what Holly Ward, an Ohio woman in her early 40's, thought she could do for herself. Like most of us, Ward saw the television commercials starring Joe Montana and Kim Kardashian advertising Skecher's fitness trainer shoes that are supposed to help you get in shape, ease your lower back and knee pain and make you feel as though you're walking in sand. Based on those promises, she bought the shoes.

However, Ward found herself undergoing surgery not too long afterward due to fractures in both of her hips, even though her doctors later told her that her bone density levels were fine and fracturing any bone at her age wasn't an easy task. She ultimately had pins placed in each of her hips and continues to undergo physical therapy, pay steep medical bills and suffer extreme pain, ironically leaving her in worse shape than when she started.

Sketchers Lawsuit

Ward filed a Skechers injury lawsuit alleging that the company's clinical testing was inadequate, that rounded shoes are defective because they do not work as advertised, and that Skechers Shape Ups cause chronic stress fractures and acute traumatic injuries. Many others seem to agree and the company is now facing three class action lawsuits – two on the west coast and one on the east coast.

If you've experienced a chronic stress fracture or an acute traumatic injury after using Skechers Shape Ups, contact a product liability attorney to discuss your situation and find out whether taking action against the company makes sense for you.
