Tamiflu Side Effects – Suicide and Other Abnormal Behavior
Tamiflu, the anti-viral drug manufactured by the Swiss Roche Holdings, has been linked to abnormal behavior, with most of the incidents involving children. Deaths have resulted from falls from windows and balconies and by running into traffic, possibly because of hallucinations. Patients have also suffered from delirium and some have committed suicide. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently required the manufacturer to add a warning that patients taking Tamiflu should be carefully monitored for this kind of behavior.
Tamiflu has also been linked to serious allergic reactions that have resulted in at least three deaths in adults in the United States. The reactions have included the serious skin reactions of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and erythema multiforme, and anaphylactic shock. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include:
- rash
- itching
- swelling
- dizziness
- trouble breathing
Call your health care provider immediately if these symptoms occur after taking Tamiflu.
Beyond allergic reactions, other more common side effects include nausea and/or vomiting. Other more severe Tamiflu side effects have also been reported, including:
- diarrhea
- bronchitis
- stomach pain
- headache
- angina
- colitis
- pneumonia
- pyrexia
If someone in your family is using Tamiflu, you should monitor them carefully for both symptoms of allergic reaction and for abnormal behavior that may be dangerous or fatal.
If you or someone you love has suffered harm from using Tamiflu, you should consult a qualified Tamiflu attorney right away to have your case evaluated and to ensure your rights are preserved.
