New Seroquel information was revealed in a study released in 2003. That study found that second-generation antipsychotic drugs like Seroquel create an increased risk of diabetes in patients who take them. This study was done on 19,978 US military veterans. As a result of this link between Seroquel and diabetes some of the most prestigious medical associations, including the American Diabetes Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, have joined in warning that patients taking Seroquel and similar drugs should be carefully monitored for signs of diabetes.
If you’re taking Seroquel, make sure that your healthcare provider is monitoring your blood-sugar levels carefully for signs of diabetes. If you or a loved one has been injured because of Seroquel use, you may be entitled to recover damages for that injury.
