There have been many lawsuits filed to recover damages for ephedra side effects, and some of the lawsuits have resulted in large verdicts.

On February 7, 2001, an Alaskan woman, Rosalie Talbert, was awarded $1.3 million to compensate her for the stroke she suffered after taking the weight-loss product AMP II Pro, manufactured by EOLA International. She was also awarded $12 million in punitive damages against EOLA, because the jury found the manufacturer had produced a dangerous product and had misrepresented the product to the public.

On June 5, 2003 a California judge ordered the company Cytodyne Technologies, Inc. to pay $12.5 million to California consumers because the court found that Cytodyne had made false claims about its dietary supplement XenadrineRFA-1. In October of that year the widow of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Belcher sued a product manufacturer for $600 million after he died in spring practice while using a product containing ephedra.

On July 24, 2004 a Texas woman who suffered brain damage from a stroke after taking a product containing ephedra won a verdict of $7.4 million against Metaboliclife International. She received $2.4 million in actual damages and $5 million in damages to penalize Metaboliclife for making false claims that the product had no adverse effects and for assuring federal regulators that it was monitoring the product for safety.

If you have suffered serious side effects after taking a product containing ephedra, you may be able to obtain compensation for your injuries. A qualified ephedra attorney can help you evaluate your case.
