Elidel Side Effects – Cancer

Elidel, a drug used to treat eczema and other skin conditions, is an immunosuppressant, which means that it lowers the body’s normal immune response to disease and cancer. Elidel has been linked to numerous reports of cancer in patients using it, and animal studies have found that Elidel increases the risk of cancer.

Basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer, usually occurs in areas of the body not exposed to sunlight and may look like eczema or psoriasis. Immunodepressants have also been linked to vitiligo, a loss of skin pigmentations that leaves milky, white patches on the skin.

Other possible Elidel side effects are:

  • viral infections
  • cough
