Adderall Lawsuits, Litigation & Lawyers – What You Should Know

Adderall, one of the top-selling drugs for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), is distributed by Shire Pharmaceuticals. Many deaths have been linked to Adderall. This drug contains amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and has been linked to fatal and non-fatal instances of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular problems. Many of those who have died or who have been injured are children. Adderall has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for children over 6 years of age and adults.

Several Adderall lawsuits have been filed against Shire Pharmaceuticals, though no verdicts have yet been reported. This Adderall litigation contends that Shire Pharmaceuticals was negligent and marketed a dangerous product that injured many patients who took the drug.

Litigation involving another ADHD drug, Ritalin, has argued that the manufacturer of Ritalin, Novartis Corporation, conspired to invent the diagnosis of ADHD, a diagnosis that is not recognized in many other countries. Members of an FDA advisory committee commented in February 2006 that ADHD drugs are being prescribed to too many children, given that the diagnosis is so controversial.
