What is meant by the term ‘defective product’?

A "defective product" is one that causes some injury or damage to person as a result of some flaw or weakness in the product, its labeling, or the way the product was used. The manufacturer of the product that caused the injury, as well as those involved in the chain of commerce, are often liable for injuries caused by defective products.

All states allow some form of recovery to persons injured by "defective products". "Product liability" claims are cases dealing with damage due to defective products that run from the obvious (a car sold without operational brakes, a mislabeled product that causes injury) to the not-so-obvious (injury from exposure to tobacco, or harmful side effects from an improperly tested drug).

If you were harmed by a defective product, consult with an experienced product liability attorney right away.
